In Pakistan, persons with disabilities are living in discriminatory environment with out receiving their basics human rights. Many Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (DPOs) are working and struggling for the rights of persons with disabilities in through out Pakistan. There is a lack of professionalism, knowledge and leadership skills exist among them. DPOs, with all their efforts are not playing a vital role as sustainable organizations. These organizations have lack of capacity tom put impact on the society. They are working for the awareness with their limited capacities.
Keeping in view all above situation Saaya Association (Islamabad) and Pakistan Disabled Peoples’ Organization (PDPO/DPI Pakistan) are going to start “Leadership Training Program” in Islamabad.. This leadership training program will be designed on need base situations of DPOs.
Purpose:
The leaders with disabilities from different DPO’s will be equipped with leadership skills, knowledge and qualities. After training they will return to their respective organizations and contribute for the change in society and develop sustainable disability movement.
Objectives:

Initially training process will be started on limited and need-base basis as pilot program.

Women leaders with disabilities, Young leaders with disabilities and leaders from rural based DPOs will be given preference.

Trainings in Independent living, Project Proposal Writing, Report writing, DPO management, leadership, accounts and other will be focused.

Through training process DPOs will be mainstreamed in the society.

Where:
The training will held in Islamabad on residential basis.
When:

The Application forms will be available from the 25th December, 2010 on website

The training of first batch will be started from the second week January, from the next month of February; two batches will be trained in one month.
Period:
The training period will be need-base from 4-6 days.
Trainees:
The trainees will be with disabilities from 2 – 10 trainees in single batch.
Fees:
The fees include training material, accommodation, local travel, meals and trainers fees. The fees will be variable according to training.
Scholarships:
Full and partial scholarships are available for potential candidates.

Training Material and manuals will be developed

Data of trainees and respective DPOs will be collected

Certificate will be awarded

Trainees will become capable to sustain their organizations
